Duvall to Anacortes

Well we did it! For over a year Annalisa and I have talked about riding the distance from Duvall to Anacortes and yesterday, we completed our goal. Total distance was 81.1 miles, 4:55 riding time and 7 hours from start to finish. We couldn't have picked a better day to do our first deVries farm ride.

We shoved off just after 12:30, cp #1 was the Centeniall Trail which starts in Snohomish, it took 53 minutes to get there and after 16 miles we were ready to walk around a bit and have a bite to eat. We went into Snohomish Fitness which is conviently located next to the trail (this place hasn't got a thing on THRIVE CF), we ran into a couple of ladies from BC who were doing a tour starting in Sedro Wooley and ending there via highways 9, 2, 27?, and 20. Quite a trip, I might look into to doing something like that someday.

After a nice snack, we hopped onto the trail and cruised until we reached the end of it, where we headed west on 531 enroute to Annalisa's Lake House and a nice lunch. This was just over the halfway point as from the de Vries' to the Birchard's it is 43.5 miles. 531 was a pain as the traffic was horrible and we could definitely tell that we were amongst cars as we noticed the lack of fresh air. We relaxed at the lake for about an hour with Linda (Annalisa's mom) before we started the final stretch home. 38.8 miles to go, depending on the wind in the Skagit flats would determine how fast we could make it home. So far the record is 1:49.

We set out riding hard not dropping under 21 mph until we reached Conway, and wouldn't you know it the winds. The wind nearly stopped us completely in our tracks, but we hammered through and were able to get home in around 2:15. All in all it was a great day, we were able to talk, laugh and get a work out together. It was truly a blessing to not have any major distractions or speed bumps along the way.

PS. We purposefully left a car down there so that this next weekend we have to ride back down in order to attend a few weddings ;)

Case, you are my hero! I have to say you would have been proud of Jeff in Jamaica - he was up at the crack of dawn swimming a couple miles in the ocean each day! I joined him one day (kind of) but did get a couple great runs in while we were there! We had a great trip - Can't wait to have you and Annalisa on the trip next year...jc
