7 to 7

Well, yesterday was a strong realization of a few things...
1- Where my current fitness level is (or where it isn't)
2- How much I enjoy the outdoors
3- And how amazing my wife is.
Yesterday started early with Roger (http://www.teamkagome.com) arriving at 6:30, we got organized and looked over the days plan and set off for our adventure just after 7am. We started with a 15 mile mountain bike leg that cruised up, down and around the lil' cranberry and heart lake trail systems (2028' vert. gain). From there we meet Annalisa and Teva at the parking lot, dropped off the bikes and moved right into a trail run, ok maybe more of a hike through all of the heart lake trails (700' vert. gain). Back to the car and the smiling face of our lone supporter, we transitioned back to the bikes and headed UP to the whistle lake trail system. However, before we got to the lake we climbed 1000' in 20 minutes (this was where I really noticed fatigue setting in). After the summit at little round top, we moved to some of the more scenic trails, one that looks east towards Mt. Baker and highway 20 (going there always puts life into perspective for me). After a short break we were on it again trying to make it back to the car by 3:30 when all of the sudden my rear tire locks up. I stop take a look and realize that I hit a root with my derailer and it was now upside down. 30 minutes later we fixed the issue and were back to riding. Getting to the TA, realizing that we would never make it to Mt. Erie for the rappell Dallas was going to put us through, so we hopped in the car and were escorted to the rappell, which turned out to be about 130' (great training for MOMAR). We finished the day off with a one hour paddle around Lake Campbell, just as the skies opened up and the rain started to fall. All in all we made it a 12 hour day and my calves can feel it today. Thanks Roger and especially Annalisa for making yesterday what it was!!
Roger during the 1st bike looking at the rappell he'd be doing in a few hours

I'm so glad to be able to help you both! However, to be honest, I would rather be with you for the adventure!
