Team Training 101

Our first training day as a team in 2008 turned out to be a great success. Over one month ago at the Fall Beast Joe, Tiff, and I came up with the idea of making it a point to meet up at least one day a month for an extended training day. This would benefit both physically but also in team co-hesion.

Today marked the initial training day... The original plan was to meet in Anacortes, do a spin test to measure our POWER OUTPUT/HEART RATE TRAINING ZONE - the workout was as follows... 1. 20 min. warmup: 2. 1 min. at 110 rpm's - 1 min. recovery - 1 min. at 120 rpm's: 3. 5 min. easy spin: 4. 10 min. 95% effort maintaining a 95-100 rpm cadence: 5. 10 min. recovery: 6. 10 min. 95% effort maintaining a 95-100 rpm cadence. The end result was just under an hour of spinning, and the three of us talking about different times during workouts where we felt like throwing up (we were almost there!).

After the test, whick Tiff is working on the results, we headed back to my house to change and go mountain biking. Joe, w/o his bike decided to go for a trail run, while Tiff and I rode. It was a bit rainy and sloppy, but all the more rewarding. Joe's run was about 3+ miles of a variety of terrain (you'll have to ask him his time). Tiff and I rode for 1hr 5min, covering 8.25 miles. Below is the to altitude gain and loss from our ride along with some more fun candid cameras... ENJOY!!
